I hope you are enjoying your friday as opposed to being freaked out because it’s Friday the 13th. Lol. It’s my ex-wife’s birthday today. Makes sense. Lol. I kid.
I wanted to share one of my all time favorite recipes today and that it Baked Ziti with sausage but I had rigatoni on hand so today, it’s Baked Rigatoni with Sausage. 🙂
I 28 ounce can of crushed tomatoes
1 15 ounce can of tomato sauce
3 Tbs Tastefully Simple’s Mama Mia Marinara Mix
1/4 cup park cheese (can be shaker cheese)
1 1lb box of ziti or rigatoni
2 cups of mozzarella
1lb of sausage (I used sweet italian as my wife does not like hot sausage but it can be used in stead)
Pre-heat your oven to 350
We are going to start with the tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes, mama mia seasoning, and parm cheese.
Throw those in a pot and simmer.
While that is going, add some sweet italian sausage to a pan and sautee. You will cook these for about 17 – 20 minutes over medium heat.

Once they were done, I cut them up into chunks.
When I threw the sausage in the pan, I also started my water for the pasta, It’s at a boil now…
I salted it at the beginning with kosher salt and now I want to add my pasta.
It cooked for about 12 minutes. JUST TIL AL DENTE. NO MUSHY PASTA HERE. Lol.
Once done, drain and throw in a baking dish.
Add the cut up sausage.
Remember that sauce that you had simmering on the stove, throw it on top.
Cover the top of the baked rigatoni with said cheese.
Bake in that pre-heated 350 oven and remove when it starts to crust. About 25 minutes.
Plate and enjoy!
